It is finally here…..

The Lake Hopatcong Fall A-Class Catamaran Regatta!!!

On Oct 1-2nd the historical Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, will host the annual regional regatta.  As many of you know the LHYC A-Cat Fleet, the largest in the US, enjoys its best sailing conditions in early October.  While being on a fresh water lake in Northwestern New Jersey, sailors enjoy challenging wind with smooth flat water sailing in a large starting fleet of 30+ boats.

Hospitality….When the sails aren’t up the party is going.  The A-Cat Fleet again is planning some fairly good times this year with nightly festivities including food, drinks and music.  Bring your boat and Lake Hopatcong hospitality takes care of everything else.  We will supply all the food and drink for you all weekend, and even supply the bed to crash at the end of it all.

Free housing….All your housing needs are taken care of.  As most of the fleet lives lakefront, we have plenty of guest houses, boat houses and private rooms on the lake to share our out of town guests. We encourage the ladies to make the trip as well and enjoy a wonderful weekend on the lake.  Contact Mark Skeels mark.skeels.dvm@gmail.com for housing setup.  The best spots go fast so call soon.

Train before the NA’s….This event will also be the last chance to do 8-10 starts with 30+ boats on the line, 25-30 Mark Rounding’s,  and consecutive nights of partying, before the North American Championship the following week.  What a great time to get the last minute bugs out before heading south for the main event of the year.

Practice Races Friday….Friday afternoon, Sept 30th the RC will setup a course and run off practice races until 5:00pm.  There will be beer (Dark and Stormys if it is cooler) afterward and then it will be time to shower up and get ready for the big party which starts at 7:00pm at the Club house.

Atlantic Coast Championship….Another note is that this year the Lake Hopatcong A-Cat Fall regatta is the end of the Atlantic Coast Championship series.  There is a perpetual trophy and 5 deep in trophies being given out for this championship series which has included 9 events this year.  The Sailor with the best high point score in 4 races gets the trophy and the next 4 best standing with him at the podium (or Bar)

So bring your wife, girlfriend, dog or whatever and come out and Sail the Lake.  You will go home tired but smiling.  We guarantee it.
