In the interest of promoting safety as well as providing an atmosphere for full enjoyment of the Club by all its members, the following
rules will be fully enforced by the Officers and Trustees:
General
A. Members and their guests shall be properly attired at all times.
B. Pets will not be allowed on the clubhouse grounds.
C. All food and beverages consumed at the club or on its grounds must be purchased at the club.
D. Automobiles must be parked only in designated areas, and may not be left overnight. LHYC assumes no responsibility for theft
or damage to any vehicle on the club grounds.
E. Smoking is NOT allowed in the club building or porch area.
F. All complaints should be directed to an officer or trustee. No complaints should be directed to the club staff at any time.
G. Driving golf balls from club property is strictly prohibited and illegal.
GUESTS
A. All members must register their guests on each visit immediately upon entering the Club.
B. Members assume full responsibility for the actions of their guests.
C. Without prior permission of the Board of Trustees, members may not bring more than 4 guests to formal affairs and 8 guests to all
other social affairs. The club is available for larger private and corporate functions if not in conflict with regular club functions, if
sponsored by a member, and with permission of the Board. Please contact the Vice Commodore for details on this policy.
D. Formals will be limited to 190 people. Reservations on a first come, first served basis.
E. With the exception of the use of the dining room, or the companion of a single member attending a club affair, guest privileges may not be
extended to the same person more than 2 times per season.
F. Members of the junior organization shall not extend guest privileges for junior-sponsored affairs without prior approval by the junior advisor.
RESERVATIONS
A. Reservations for club affairs are required at least 48 hours in advance. Any reservations made after that time will be at the
discretion of the manager in consultation with the officers.
B. Members will be charged regardless of attendance at Club affairs unless reservations are cancelled at least 48 hours
in advance.
C. Reservations for club dining room or on the porch are required, and will be accepted, depending on availability, up until 5:00 PM.
Seating will be on first come, first served basis.
DRESS CODE
A. All members and guests are required to dress appropriately during restaurant hours.
B. Members and guests are required to wear shirts and shoes in all areas of the club at all times.
C. Porch dining requires no jeans and men must wear collared shirts. Casual dining on the patio only.
BAR
A. The club requires strict adherence to all state and local regulations. There is a zero tolerancepolicy in place at this club for anyone who does not abide by these rules of LHYC.
B.You must be 21 years of age to purchase or consume anyu alcoholic beverage on club premises. All persons are required to show proof of age upon request of the Manager or the Club Staff.
C. Minors will not be allowed to sit at the bar.
D. Any member who allows underage access to alcohol on club premises will be asked to leave immediately. The incident will be reviewed by the Board and may result in suspension or termination of your membership.
E. Private alcohol cannot be brought into the club or on club premises at any time.
F. Private supplies of alcohol must remain on your boat at all times.
G. Any Club employee who is determined to have knowingly served anyone underage, will be terminated immediately.
H. Glassware is not to be removed from the clubhouse.
CLUB OPERATING HOURS
Club hours are at the discretion of the manager based on the number of members using the facility at the time. Minimum hours are
as follows:
A. Monday Club Closed (Except on Holidays)
B. Tuesday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
C. Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM
D. Friday 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM
E. Saturday 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM
F. Sunday 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM
MEMBER CHARGES
A. All dues and assessments must be paid by June 1. Under the Club By-Laws, the names of any members failing to pay by that
date shall be immediately posted. If payment is not received by June 30, the Board of Trustees shall have the discretion to
suspend or expel delinquent members, in which case the member will forfeit all property rights, but remain liable for any unpaid
fees and other charges.
B. All house charges and other fees are payable when billed. Under the Club By-Laws, any member with balances unpaid after
30 days shall be posted immediately. Also under the By-Laws, if any account has not been paid within 45 days, the member shall
automatically be suspended from all privileges and activities until payment is made.
C. Any dues and assessments not paid by June 1, or house charges outstanding after 30 days greater than $50 shall result in a service
charge of $10, plus interest at an annual rate of 18% on the amount outstanding, calculated from the date of original billing.
tippinG
Tipping is not required or expected. Staff are compensated based on a no-tipping policy.
BOATS AND STORAGE
A. Arrangements for storage of sailboats are under the direction of the Fleet Captain.
B. LHYC assumes no responsibility for theft or damage to boats stored on club property.
C. All boats stored on the grounds should have identification of the owner on the transom of the boat, as well as on the trailer tongue.
D. Fees for boat storage are established by the Board of Trustees. Any boat stored on the grounds less than two weeks will be
assessed half the established fee. Any boat stored more than two weeks will be assessed the full fee. Non-payment of storage
fees will make a boat ineligible for racing.
E. No motor boats or their trailers may be parked on club grounds.
F. No boat may be moored overnight without prior permission of the Fleet Captain.
G. The docking of boats is under the direction of the Fleet Cap tain. During racing events, the “Judges Stand” dock is reserved for the
Race Committee. During these events motor boats should dock on the windward side of all docks.
H. Boats for winter storage must not be left on club grounds prior to October 1. Boats must be off club grounds prior to club opening
in May.
I. Summer storage boats must be removed by November 1st.
J. No motorboats are allowed to be stored on club property.
LAUNCHING
A. The hoists and capstan should be operated in a safe manner at all times.
B. The hoists and capstan may only be operated by club members 18 years or older, with the exception of a younger owner-skipper
upon request to the Commodore.
C. Children are not allowed in the vicinity of the hoists, capstan, and boat storage areas during launching or hauling operations. It shall
be the responsibility of the skipper of the yacht being launched or hauled to keep the area clear of children.
D. At no time should a person be under a boat on the hoist, or behind a trailer during launching or hauling.
E. All trailers shall use a safety chain when being towed.
F. There shall be no launching of non-member boats from club property on weekends and holidays, except for regatta participants.
At all other times, launching will be only with the approval of the club manager.
SWIMMING
Swimming is at the risk of the participating members and their guests. No lifeguard is provided. Swimming is to take place between the
“Judges Stand” dock and the second dock only, and only within the safety lines provided. No fishing is permitted in swimming area.
CHILDREN
a. no minor will be permitted to sit at the bar.
B. No children are to play or eat in the Ladies Sitting Room area.
C. Eating in the club house is to be confined to the Snack Bar area or the porch.
D. Sitters must be provided for children if parents are off the premises or otherwise engaged. Young children are not to be
left unattended.
E. Children must wear life jackets on the docks unless accompanied by an adult, or have successfully completed a recognized
swimming course.
F. Use of the Junior Room on the second floor and the alcove outside the room is for the use of members of the junior organization
and their guests 13 and older only. They are responsible for its upkeep. Failure to keep the area clean, or failure to abide by all club
rules and normal safety precautions, including any smoking in the area, will result in immediate closing of the area to all Juniors.
PROPOSAL FOR MEMBERSHIP
Applications for membership are issued only through the Membership Committee. To propose a candidate for member ship, the Sponsor
and Seconder should each address a letter to the Chairman of the Membership Committee requesting an application.
This letter should include the following information about the candidate:
1. Age and class of membership.
2. Nature of the acquaintance and candidate’s business and community standing.
3. Reason for the person’s desire to become a member.
4. Whether the Sponsor has discussed the club activities with the candidate.
5. Which of the club’s activities is most interesting to the candidate?
6. Can the candidate contribute to the club’s activities?
7. Name of other club members to whom the candidate is known.
