In an era where one design sailing has disappeared from many clubs, at LHYC it is as strong as ever. Four fleets - A Class Catamarans, E-Scows, Stars and Thistles - race every Sunday morning from late May through Labor Day, with approximately 30 boats on the starting line.   There is also casual sailing on Tuesday evenings, where non-sailors are welcome.  The club hosts several regional and national regattas, and is a past winner of US Sailing’s Mallory Cup. Fleets work hard at being both competitive and fun, and are always welcoming to new skippers and crew. With 7 finger docks, as well as 2 lifts, and 2 ramps, all with “roll off” capability, and racing generally on the main lake near the clubhouse, LHYC is an ideal one-design facility. While skippers / boat owners are required to be members, crew members are not.
