Who We Are
LHYC is a private sailing and social club on Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. The club has always been a club run by its members for its members. The primary theme of our activities and facilities is “family first”.
Now well into our second century, LHYC maintains many traditions going back to our founding in 1905, including our annual opening ceremonies, “family day”, and an active fleet sailing program and social calendar. The club's sailing program includes a junior sailing instructional and racing program, as well as one-design racing in four fleets. The club has an excellent youth program, called "The Juniors", and many social affairs for young and old alike.
Our instruction programs are open to the public. Non-members are also allowed to crew for members in fleet racing. Our social schedule includes a variety of Saturday night functions throughout the Spring and Summer.
Along with the social and sailing calendars, the club also has weekday dining for members on the porch overlooking Lake Hopatcong.
The LHYC Membership Committee is always available to discuss our programs, facilities and the membership process. New prospective members are presented by existing members. However, if you do not know any current members, the committee will be glad to introduce you to existing members. For information on membership, please click on the button labeled Information.
The club is very proud of its historical status. Much effort has been made to maintain the club in its original state, while serving an active membership. The LHYC Historical Foundation has been formed to support the maintenance and restoration of our historical building.
Please note that we do not rent or offer our facilities to the general public except for organizations in the Lake Hopatcong area focused on the Lake, such as the Lake Hopatcong Foundation, the Lake Hopatcong Historical Society, and various regulatory authorities.
